    • Who is this trip designed for

Abundant Journeys specifically designs its trips with the family in mind. From school-aged children through grandparents, each trip will take you on an adventure to unwind, bond and partake in the beauty of the chosen destination.

It is probably not the most ideal environment for those without children. The premise is to create a vacation void of over-stimulation, but grounded in a wellness environment producing fun, pleasant and welcoming activities for the entire family. On our trips, Mom is typically, but not always, the one participating in our daily yoga/pilates sessions. During the consultations, we determine what offerings should be made available for the children and fathers during these sessions, if they are not interested in participating.

Each program is designed for you to make the vacation your own. There is ample ‘on your own’ time to marvel in the destination. It is essentially a group, non-escorted experience. Reference your vacation planner for recommended activities.

    • How do I get there?

You should fly in and out of Rafael Hernández Airport (BQN) located in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Presently, Jet Blue and United Airlines offer flights to this airport. You should secure your own air travel arrangements. However, Abundant Journeys is able to take care of your flight arrangements upon your request. Cost additional.

Reminder: Do NOT purchase any air tickets until such time Abundant Journeys has confirmed, in writing, the trip has met its minimum participant requirement.

    • Check-in/Check-out Info

      Check-in: 4PM on Sunday, June 7, 2015
      Check-out: 11AM on Thursday, June 11, 2015
There are no concessions in package price for late arrival or early check-out. Shared airport transfers are included in your package price. Upon purchase of your air travel, please provide a copy to Abundant Journeys in order to utilize the transfer portion of your package. We must receive your flight information no later than 21-days from departure in order to coordinate this service on your behalf. If we do not receive your flight information in time, there will not be a refund for the unused transfer service.

If you fly into San Juan, we can coordinate transfer service on your behalf for an additional cost.

Our program schedule will commence at 5PM on June 7, 2015 with our Welcome and Introduction session. Our program will conclude on Thursday, June 11th after breakfast. Should your flight depart early, you will receive a breakfast-to-go box.

    • Good to know

      • ✓ The spoken language is Spanish. However, English is common by some condo staff.
      • ✓ Puerto is a US territory. Hence, passports are not required to visit the island.
      • ✓ The currency is the US dollar. However, we recommend carrying small bills to avoid encouraging theft or robbery and to be able to provide tips easily.
      • ✓ For major purchases, stick to Visa or Mastercard, if you must use credit cards.
      • ✓ Do not forget to contact your credit card, bank and cell phone company prior to departure to inform each of your travels to avoid any glitches in service. Also, inquire about fees, if any, that may incur as a result of usage during your travels.
      • ✓ Taxes and fees are included in your package price. Along with some gratuities as noted in your vacation planner.
      • ✓ We recommend drinking bottled water no matter where you travel, at home or abroad, for your safety.
      • ✓ Puerto Rico is on Atlantic Standard Time. 2 hrs ahead of Dallas, TX.
    • What should I bring?

A more substantial packing list is included in your vacation planner. However, here is a short list to get started on your trip planning:

      • ✓ sturdy shoes for hiking
      • ✓ bathing suit with cover up
      • ✓ beach towel
      • ✓ yoga and/or pilates clothing
      • ✓ easy listening devices with ear plugs
      • ✓ small bills for tipping
    • Fitness Level

Reference your trip planner for fitness level of individual activities. Overall, activities are designed to be easy to moderate to accommodate most participants.
    • Health & Safety

Insurance: Each deposited person will receive an insurance quote to help protect your trip investment. You will have the opportunity to speak directly with the insurance company to answer any insurance related inquiries.

Health: Puerto Rico is a tropical island but is free of most diseases that plague many other tropical countries of the Caribbean and the world. Tap water is safe to drink almost everywhere. Though we still recommend bottled water anywhere worldwide. Fresh water lakes and streams in metropolitan areas are often polluted so avoid going in for a dip. You can, however, find freshwater streams and ponds in the rain forest that are safe to swim in. Generally, if you see Puerto Ricans swimming in it then you are probably okay, especially high in the rain forest.

Visitors should expect a high level of quality in their medical service – it is comparable to the U.S. mainland. Drug stores are plentiful and very well stocked. Walgreen’s is the biggest and most popular pharmacy chain, although Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Costco offer medicines, as do numerous smaller local chains.

Dengue fever, a disease transmitted by mosquitoes, is sometimes a problem (mostly in metropolitan areas). Although not too many people are affected by this, if you’re prone to bug bites it would be good to use bug repellent when staying near some suburbs. (SOURCE: Puerto Rico  Tourist and Travel)

Safety is always a concern for anyone while traveling. Puerto Rico is no exception. We recommend not venturing out at night, wandering off solo or taking valuables with you on the trip. Crime, as it is stateside, is more prominent in the major cities of Puerto Rico such as San Juan. That being said, always be diligent and aware of your surroundings to aid in warding off unpleasant incidents.

    • Climate & Weather

Puerto Rico has a tropical marine climate, which is mild and has little seasonal temperature variation. Temperatures range from 70˚F to 90˚F and tend to be lower at night and up in the mountains. Year-round trade winds help ensure the sub tropical climate. The average annual temperature is 80°F. Rainfall is abundant along the north coast where we will reside. Hurricane season spans between June and November, where rain showers occur once a day, almost every day. Periodic droughts sometimes affect the island.
    • What will we eat?
