    1. Cape Cadogan

    South Africa, Cape Town

    The Cape Cadogan Hotel is situated in the beautiful Gardens area of Cape Town. It was originally a farmhouse which was ‘Victorianized’ in 1912 and declared a national monument in 1984. The hotel is themed on the Irish literary figure Oscar Wilde who was renowned for his Bohemian lifestyle throughout Europe and New York during the latter part of the 19th century. The luxuriously appointed ensuite bedrooms, are each unique in layout and style and decorated with an eclectic mix of contemporary and antique furniture.  All rooms are air conditioned with facilities such as satellite TV, personal mini bar, hairdryers, tea/coffee makers, DVD players, and complimentary internet access.  The hotel facilities include a comfortable lounge with an open fireplace, a garden and pool area, and a library where you can relax and read a book or indulge in a game of chess.  Your choice of either a continental or cooked breakfast is served in the breakfast room that overlooks the pool and the garden.

    2. Kapama Southern Camp

    Kapama Southern Camp is situated in a tranquil setting on the southern-most section of the Kapama Private Game Reserve. The contemporary, understated décor is inspired by surrounding nature. All suites have ensuite bathrooms with picture windows and private patios to enjoy the scenery and birdlife. Each air conditioned suite has a telephone, minibar, tea and coffee station, hair dryer and safe. Relax in the lounge with a good book and cool refreshment from the bar, or take a dip in the pool to cool off after a game drive. Breakfast and lunch are served in the elegant, open-sided dining room. The traditional outdoor boma, illuminated by firelight and starry skies, is the favored setting for dinner. Activities at Kapama include morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles and guided bush walks, conducted by experienced rangers. All game viewing drives and walks are shared with fellow camp guests. Kapama also offers some unique wildlife experiences at an additional charge – visit to the Hoedspruit Centre for Endangered Species to see rare wildlife up close; elephant interactions with an African elephant; romantic sleep-outs under the African sky or decadent Spa treatments at their Wellness Centre.

    Ilala Lodge Hotel is ideally situated on the Zimbabwean side of the mighty Zambezi River and within walking distance to the magnificent Victoria Falls.  All rooms and suites are spacious and decorated with railway teak furnishings and a patio. Each room has an ensuite bathroom with a bath and separate shower, air conditioning, an overhead fan, satellite TV, safe, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities.  Additional amenities include same day laundry and wireless internet access at an additional cost. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the á la carte Palm Restaurant.  Wild animals often graze on the hotel lawns where you can hear the majestic roar of “the smoke that thunders” in the background.

    Day 1. Arrive Cape Town, South Africa

    With a warm welcome upon your arrival in Cape Town, South Africa’s “Mother City,” you will be whisked away to your hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure to enjoy one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

    Day 2. Cape Town

    Spend a full day exploring the stunning Cape Peninsula. Drive past the sparkling beaches of Camps Bay, Clifton and Llandudno to Hout Bay, the heart of the local crayfish industry. As time permits, you may join an optional cruise to Seal Island. Keep your camera on hand to photograph the spectacular rocky seascapes when you visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Continue along the coastline to visit Boulders Beach and get up close to a colony of penguins. (B)

    Day 3. Cape Town

    Today’s sojourn explores the glorious winelands. Learn all about the process of wine making, from grape to goblet. Revel in the scenery – like the breathtaking views of the Paarl valley and the picturesque little village of Franschhoek, first settled by the Huguenots. Take a stroll through historical, glorious Stellenbosch with its Cape Dutch architecture, absorbing the quaintness of this lovely university town. Tonight, enjoy the hospitality and delicious cuisine that is synonymous with South Africa as you are welcomed for dinner at the home of a Capetonian couple. (B,D)

    Day 4. Cape Town / Kruger Private Reserve

    With a couple of short flights, you’ll be welcomed and on your way to your safari adventure within a private reserve bordering the famous Kruger National Park. Settle in and soak up the tranquility of the African bush before embarking on your late afternoon game drive. This superb sanctuary is home to zebra, giraffe, lion, elephant, rhino, Cape buffalo, wildebeest, warthog and hyena, as well as the cheetah and the endangered wild dog. (B,L,D)

    Day 5. Kruger Private Reserve

    Just as the wildlife awaken, meet your expert safari ranger and hop aboard your open safari vehicle for a thrilling game drive. Photograph away as you spot the “Big Five” and other wildlife while traversing the prolific reserve. On your late afternoon drive, pause for a “sundowner” as the sun dips below the horizon. Share the day’s adventure with your safari companions over dinner. (B,L,D)

    Day 6. Kruger Private Reserve

    With your skilled ranger, explore the rarer sights and wonders of the bush during your game viewing activities today. Perhaps take a guided walk through the bush or arrange for a candle-lit alfresco dinner as the Southern Cross begins to twinkle in the endless skies. (B,L,D)

    Day 7. Kruger Private Reserve / Johannesburg

    Set out early on your final safari in search of those hard-to-spot cheetahs and the Big Five. Return to camp for a hearty breakfast and relax until it’s time to transfer to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival, you are transferred to your ideally located hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure. (B)

    Day 8. Johannesburg / Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

    Fly off to the spectacular Victoria Falls, hailed as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and settle into your distinguished lodging. Later this afternoon, you’ll experience the other-worldly grandeur above the falls as you sail upstream on your dinner cruise and celebrate the setting African sun. Be ready with your binoculars to zoom in on the hippos cavorting in the river. Look out for the elephants as they make their way to the riverbank for their last drink, before settling down for the night. (B,D)

    Day 9. Victoria Falls

    Keep an eye out for rainbows as you walk the misty rainforest trail along the Zimbabwean side of the falls. Marvel at the thunderous noise of the millions of gallons of water swirling around the islets and tumbling over Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Rainbow Falls. Later, visit a local community for insights into the lives and customs of the resilient and ever friendly Zimbabweans. (B)

    Day 10. Victoria Falls / Depart

    Transfer to the airport for your departure flight bound for Johannesburg and your connecting arrangements. You may be leaving Africa behind but you’ll return home with fantastic photos and memories that will live on in your heart forever. (B)
